I was just curious if you had found anyone with ALS to speak with? It seems like that would be an interesting addition to your research. Another thought might be to find a physician willing to sit down with you who could talk about their experiences in treating this disease. I don't know if there is anyone in that speciality in the area, but you could also looking into an e-mail or online correspondence too.
